The Shepherd of Salvation
A Poem of Praise
by Kimberly Davis
So far away the sheep did stray to roam wild with the wolves.
But The Shepherd’s love set out for one, and searched as far and wide as He could.
Then, there inside the lion’s den, He found the sheep laid down to sleep— Its flesh fully fed, its wool crimson red, with wounds torn wide and deep.
But The Shepherd —moved with compassion— Lifted His lamb into His arms, and cradled it against His bosom, securing it from eternal harm.
Then The Shepherd took His little lamb and washed him white as snow.
Then as the sheep’s Heavenly Master, The Shepherd beamed with joy and hope.
With pride, The Master shouted, “Welcome home, my little lost sheep!” Then hearkened all the angels,Who sang a jubilee.
Then the lamb rejoiced along with The Shepherd, from that day, never leaving His side. Walking in step with Hashem, his Master—Now the lamb’s an obedient Bride.
Am Yisrael Chai!
